The famous Hollywood actor, who's full name is Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio, was born on November 11, 1974 in Los Angeles, California to German-American mother and Italian-American father. Leonardo's parents signed divorce paper when he was one year old. The actor was named after the famous Italian painter Leonardo Da Vinci.

As a child Leonardo DiCaprio had already appeared on the TV screen. His first debut was on the TV series "Romper Room", but his movie debut role was in the year 1993 in "Critters 3". During the development of his career he was recommended to change his name to Lenny Williams, but he rejected to do it.

Later on in early 90's DiCaprio played a role in "Parenthood", in the TV series "Santa Barbara" and "Growing Pains" and kept developing himself as an actor in a number of movies through 1990's and 2000's. Leonardo has also shown an interest in environmental issues(w), in politics and in charities.

Leonardo DiCaprio has been mostly involved in acting, however he has also done film producing in such movies as The Assassination of Richard Nixon (2004) and The Aviator (2004). The movie "The Aviator" brought Leonardo the Best Actor award (Drama) at the Golden Globes 2005, but his first Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations were for the movie "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" (1993).
Leonardo is in a relationship with the world-famous Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen.
