Pierce Brendan Brosnan was born on May 16, 1953 in Navan, County Meath, Ireland. He lived there throughout his childhood until he was about 11 years old and moved to London with his family, in 1964. Where, reportedly, he saw his first movie as a child, "Goldfinger," which starred Sean Connery as Bond. He worked around London as a commercial artist/ ill-ustrator and a cab driver. One of his co-workers introduced him to the theatre and acting. Pierce left his job to pursue a career in acting. He studied at the Drama Centre in London for 3 years as an actor. Pierce married long-time girlfriend Keely Shaye Smith (now Keely Brosnan), on August 4th, 2001 in County Mayo, Ireland, and leads a rather happy life with his new wife and children in Malibu, California. He has 3 children with Cassie: Sean William (born 1983) and stepchildren Christopher (born 1972) and Charlotte (born 1971.) He also has 2 children with Keely: Dylan Thomas (born January 1997) and Paris Beckett (born February 27, 2001.) Pierce also became a granfather when Charlotte gave birth to a baby girl, Isabella Sophie. For anyone who is a great fan of Pierce knows that his family means the world to him.
The actor began to regain his motion picture bankability when he was cast in a choice secondary role in the 1993 comedy megahit Mrs. Doubtfire. In 1995, he finally got his chance to play Agent 007 in GoldenEye, and proved that the producer's instincts were right on target. Brosnan not only provided a much-needed boost for the ailing series, but also cemented his status as a capable leading man in a variety of roles, ranging from the title character in Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe (1996) to a stuffy, love-struck professor who meets a ludicrous fate in Mars Attacks! (1996) to a courageous vulcanologist trying to save a town threatened by a reawakened volcano in Dante's Peak (1997). Brosnan played Bond for the second time in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), essaying the role with great success. Following his turn as the titular thief in the stylish 1999 remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, the actor went on to his third Bond outing in The World is Not Enough, again proving that saving the world was most convincingly done by those with convincing tans, straight teeth, and plenty of fun gadgets. And the world isn't the only thing Bond saved. While, the next half-decade found Brosnan stumbling with disappointments like The Tailor of Panama and The Laws of Attraction, his turns as the world's suavest spy never failed to strike gold at the box-office. After 2002's Die Another Day, Brosnan announced that 2005 would see him play the hero for the fifth and final time in 2005
Seraphim Falls (2006), The Matador (2005), After the Sunset (2004), Laws of Attraction (2004), Evelyn (2002), Die Another Day (2002), Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002), The Tailor of Panama (2001), Dolphins (2000), he World Is Not Enough (1999), The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), Grey Owl (1998), Quest for Camelot (1998), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), Dante's Peak (1997), Robinson Crusoe (1996), Mars Attacks!
