Sharman_JoshiBiography
Sharman Joshi is an Indian film and theatre actor. He has worked on various stage productions in English, Hindi and Gujarati, though is mostly known for his work in Hindi movies.

Sharman Joshi has acting in his blood as he is the son of the famous Gujarati theater writer-actor Arvind Joshi. His older sister Mansi Joshi is a very famous television actress married to actor Rohit Roy.. He is the nephew of and popular stage actor Sarita Joshi and cousin of actresses Ketki Dave and Purvi Joshi.Sharman has been very active in theatre and drama right since childhood and did over 330 shows of his famous play ‘Aame Layee Gaya Tame Rahee Gaya’.

In 2000, Sharman got married to his girlfriend Prerna Chopra daughter of Prem Chopra. Marriage also bought in lady luck for the actor, who bagged a male lead in ‘Style’; the movie became a surprise hit and Sharman finally got recognized as an actor. On 12 October 2005, Sharman became a proud father of a daughter, who bought in loads of more luck for her dad, as he had two big hits in 2006- ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Golmaal’.Even though Sharman may not be the quintessential Bollywood actor, but his talent and conviction is getting him the deserved name and fame.

He made his film debut in the 1999 art film "Godmother" and received rave reviews for his portrayal of the title protagonist's troubled son.He then appeared in a short role in the film named "Lajja" but went unnoticed. He was first noticed in the film "Style" (2001), which was a comedy and a surprise commercial hit. It was a low budget project produced by N Chandra involving a cast of newcomers. The movie was set in a college following the antics of a couple of students.Sharman's comic timing and performance was generally lauded and was considered the main reason for the success of the otherwise mediocre movie.

The success of Style was followed with a sequel called "Excuse Me" (2003), borrowing its name from the hit song of the first film, and other comedies like "Shaadi No. 1" (2005).In 2003 he appeared in another film named "kahan ho tum" but the film went unnoticed.

The 2006 critically acclaimed film "Rang De Basanti" is his most successful movie to date. It brought him favourable reviews, both for his comic and emotional segments in the movie and considered to be his breakthrough role. Later that year he starred in the comedy film "Golmaal" which was a moderate box office success.

In 2007 he appeared in the multi-starrer film "Life in a Metro" which was also a success at the box office. His forthcoming release is the multi-starrer comedy Dhol.
